Taiko is a traditional art form of drumming
from Japan. Its roots stem from ceremonial, festival and official roles
in early Japanese society. Today, its sound not only thrives in its
age-old role in festivals and ceremonies, but has also found its niche
in contemporary music and continues to evolve. It has attracted attention
due to its energetic and powerful presentation.
This Toronto based ensemble set forth in 1992. This young and vibrant Taiko group is well renowned and recognized for their energetic and powerful drumming performances in many local and non-local festivals and special events. When Yakudo is on stage, people cannot help but become mesmerized not only by the sound of the Taiko, but by their magnificent stage presence. The music ranges from mystical and enchanting to light ,upbeat , assertive, and powerful. Yakudo has performed for numerous corporate special events.
